Bio

After years of co-writing jams for other household names, in Jan 2019, Newcastle raised, Melbourne based producer turn artist James Crooks released his debut EP titled 'Blame My Soul', featuring vocals of friends Tyne-James Organ, Paige IV, BOI and more.

October 18th 2019 re-marks the day of Crooks artistic independence with the release of new single ‘Let Me Be’.

The single speaks honestly to how he felt whilst under contract with his previous label and the songs signature sound highlights the disparity between his ‘then’ sound and where he wanted to be.

Sounds like James has spent the last few years trying trying to find the record he wanted to make and I suspect this is it. Seems like this more authentic sonic identity is already bearing fruit!

This is a really strong new track from James Crooks. It's a world away from his previous stuff and I'm hugely excited about that. It's got some ambitious energy and a Britrock snarl that's hopped up various mood enhancers.
