Forming in the small Victorian country town of Colac in 2010, Japan For moved quickly, playing first shows and recording debut EP 'The Headache Suite' within a few short months of forming, receiving airplay on Triple J, Triple M & K-Rock. A couple of years gigging around Victoria helped hone the band's direction and Japan For recorded the 'Traveller' EP with Sam Johnson (Smith Street Band, A Death In The Family) at Three Phase Studios in 2013. Bored with CD releases and the unviability of doing a large vinyl pressing, the band released 'Traveller' as a physical digital package on a USB bottle opener in a tin box printed with artwork. After a couple of quiet years focusing on other aspects of life, a lineup change reignited the spark and the band began writing their debut album. This was recorded in 2017 with Sam Johnson at Holes & Corners and Andy Forssman at Roseneath Studios and is slated for an early 2018 release.
