Bio

Originally from the quiet New England town of Kootingal, Jay Squire, now a local to Sydney, is likely to be found in the corner of a local bar testing his new vignettes on his surroundings.

After 2019’s “Little Arrow” release, Sub Rosa Volume 1 is Jay's first self recorded and self produced work.

“a few friends just happened to leave all this recording gear and instruments in my house and I thought, hell this can’t be so hard - after all a lot of my favourite records sound lo-fi and generally pretty dusty…with a bit of work I came up with something I was really happy with”

“It was also a very different writing experience for me, nearly every song was written just before it was recorded. Usually I record songs after fine tuning them for months or even years, but this time around it was just in and out. After doing it this way I’m very interested in doing the same thing again…I guess this is what “Volume 2” will be for”

This song reminds me of another song but I can't put my find on it or, maybe, it reminds me of another time and place - who knows?
All I do know is that it's a beaut of a tune, and you should give it a listen.
