Bio

Jess Johns is the solo pursuit of enigmatic Adelaide artist, Jessica Johns. Jessica has an extraordinarily rare vocal talent making her membership hot property for bands around Adelaide. Her first foray into live music came through post-high school psych-pop outfit Kashaguava. Though Kashaguava disbanded in 2016 Jess has since joined groups, Ricky Albeck and The Belair Line band and Dom and The Wizards while co-founding Dead Roo and her own solo lead act, Jess Johns.

The Jess Johns band consists of David Blumberg (Bass), Ricky Albeck (Guitar), Harry Freeman (Drums) and Jess Johns (Vocals, Guitar). The groups dreamy take on Indie Australiana sits modestly in the present while looking over its shoulder to artists gone by. Dolly Parton, Simon & Garfunkel and Cruise FM are cited as heavy influences on the musical output as well as current artists Hand Habits, Angel Olsen and Julia Jacklin. Having played a string of shows pre-COVID, Jess Johns used the coronavirus off-season to get in the studio and record while also signing on with local label Swirl Records. The new partnership between artist and label promises to be fruitful with a debut single on the way.

as soon as your voice lets it rip, there's an immediate surety and comfort. this track is a rollicking ride, but we know we're 100% safe in your hands the entire time.

Love at first sound! Gorgeous offering, Jess! It catches fire, holds the momentum and that voice warms the soul. Rich, old soul in sound and I love the soaring, longing feel.
