      About

With a '70s rock vibe Jim Baynes launches these catchy mini-anthems. The Sydney solo artist's intriguing voice - often likened to Tracy Chapman - can seem precarious amid the driving guitars and drums of this rocking debut. The former Flee the Capital guitarist started singing his own material whilst working as a reporter in Papua New Guinea. There Jim re-discovered his musical roots through local musos who jammed like '70s rockers Black Sabbath and Bad Company. Jim swears by this raw, 'un-electronic' approach to these personal songs he wrote on acoustic and piano. But there are also undercurrents of social commentary when he sings about PNG in "Caught in All Your Suffering" and Sydney in "Island to Name".
