Any female artists empowering women...girl power
JOANNA is a new Australian, solo artist who grew up in the Pilbara region of Western Australia and lives in Perth. After a couple of years of no fixed address in New York, couch surfing everywhere from Queens to the Upper East Side, JOANNA wrote songs for other artists ranging in genre from hip hop to reggae to rock. After moving back to Oz, raising her 2 sons alone & putting her music 2nd for the first time in her life, she sneakily submitted her own personal demo backstage at a gig for long time aquaintance Shaggy & his producer liked what he heard. JOANNA flew back to New York and spent 3 days in the recording studio without sleep or venturing outside. The result was an EDM based 5 song ep co-produced by 7 time Grammy nominated "GC" that has just released worldwide this December 2017. The ep entitled "Quantum Entanglement" features JOANNA's debut single "C.I.A. (Secret Weapon)" as well as "Do it (to you)", "Kamikaze", "Momma Bear" & "Pray to the Stereo Gods".
JOANNA took her music into her own hands signing up to New York based digital distributor Tunecore. Being new to the music industry, ironically, at the ripe age of 39, JOANNA shows no signs of slowing down. With 11 new tracks to be mastered for an album release in 2018 as well as commissioning lyric & animated 3D music videos for her current roster, all self funded, this single Mum knows all too well that life is short & you create your own "luck". JOANNA's style of songwriting is poignant & poetic, simultaneously lending itself to catchy hooks & infectious melodies. To quote her song "Tired" which she wrote when boarding above a methadone clinic in Midtown NY..."got me jumpin' round puddles, lookin' more like a flood" JOANNA believes she used to view breaking into the music industry this way...all too overwhelming, but now has had a change of heart & embraces any opportunity with great optimism and enthusiasm. A champion for girl power, JOANNA writes to empower.
