The sounds of Joeb began as a simple solo acoustic project with an aim at writing and performing acoustically about Sydney. After original shows and a few friends coming on board to lend a hand, time was spent recording the sounds that were created. A slight change of plans see’s Brisbane being home since 2007. The sounds are honest and uncomplicated, the way they were originally written and performed.

Describe your music
I guess just a very mellow, honest , uncomplicated sound. I have pretty laid back tastes so I hope that it rubs off on my music.
How do you go about writing a song? Lyrics or music first?
I generally just try to get the melody and and music sorted together and then lyrics last. Usually an idea just pops out while I'm sitting about, and it's very random. I don't really sit down and try to write, I just get some tune in my head and really enjoy mucking about with it.
Who would you most like to tour with or learn from as a songwriter?
Oh Man, there are just too many to name! I guess as a song writer I'd really like to spend some time with Beck. His songwriting, production and knack of coming up with different sounds and styles is very cool.
What was the last CD you bought? what made you buy it?
Nick Drake - Made to Love Magic. I've been meaning to get it for ages and was reading his biography.
What do you do when you're not making music?
I'm studying Behavioural Science at QUT, so I'm trying hard to keep up and do my assignments and stuff. I'm either doing that, or probably procrastinating about doing it!
What have you got planned for the future?
I guess right now it's finishing my degree, doing as much with music as I can and being happy.
Australian music is...
Australian? It's great. There's always something new and cool to come out and it just adds to what already is a great place to be.View Profile Hide Interview
