Bio

Jon Marsden is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer from Brisbane Australia. Jon found his interest in musical expression after picking up the electric guitar in 2012. It wasn’t until 2018 that Jon took to producing his own music and began releasing his music for public streaming.

Jon’s instrumental prowess sits firmly within the electric guitar after finding an affinity for the instrument at a young age, playing blues licks and riffs over recordings of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton for hours on end. However, it didn’t take long for Jon to gain and interest in other instruments and start an ever-growing plethora of instrumental knowledge which would become the catalyst for his exploration into digital recording self-production.

With his unique style of song writing and production Jon has been able to place himself into an interesting niche incomparable to genre and style. Paying homage to the roots of groove music from Donny Hathaway funk beats to the sultry D’angelo and J Dilla swings, Jon doesn’t shy away from instrumental experimentation and stylistic exploration. Jon often pairs Jeff Buckley style vocals with funk rhythms and instrumentation to create a juxtaposed soundscape that is signature to his broad ethereal sound. The sound is defined by the bare bones production style that doesn’t try to be something it isn’t yet is able to deliver an eclectic performance both on stage and in headphones.

Jon continues to write and produce music at home in his bedroom and has so much more to share.
