Bio

Jumbo Mavis: Pronounced "Jumbo May-viss"

Jumbo Mavis: Pronoun “Did you catch Jumbo Mavis’s show last night? Yes, I did… it was so, so.”

Jumbo: Latin - denotes a large, clumsy person normally of questionable intelligence or wit. Popularised in London in the second half of the 19th century after “Jumbo” the African bush elephant who resided in a zoo in Paris, France before being exported to London Zoo and eventually sold to P.T. Barnum, noted American politician and Ring Master as a curiosity. Jumbo was by all accounts an idiot.

Mavis: Mavis (see “Mavis”)

it's well produced and those shining 80s disco guitars are grache.

The rolling drums at the start and throughout allures you right in. I love the ferocity (at times) and strength in your vocals too. It really makes the whole dark folk experience come to life.

Dark, driving folk-rock with some glorious percussion storming right through. Commanding stuff guys.
