Bio

Fresh-faced and exploding onto the scene in a flurry of pastel colours and scintillating ear-worms, 2021 marks the birth of indie pop duo JUNO, featuring guitarist & producer Sam Woods and singer-songwriter Kahlia Ferguson.
The dynamic duo first met as members of indie/rock band, Sunflower. Drawn to one another’s musical sensibility, the pair grew close and connected over a love of Anderson .Paak, cold weather and rainy days. As Sunflower came to an end, the pair began writing and producing together as a therapeutic escapism. A musical connection was quickly realised and JUNO was born.
Operating out of a custom-built home studio in the duo’s hometown of Brisbane, Australia, Kahlia and Sam began posting to social media snippets of the hooks they were writing. The organic online traction they quickly gained led to a demand for full song releases and live shows. JUNO started to take shape with the inclusion of fellow band members and siblings Luke Woods (drums) and Shani Ferguson (keys).
Now, JUNO is ready to take on Australia’s music scene, and it will come as no shock that the music and live show are every bit as energetic and entertaining as could be expected - especially considering the duo’s musical history. As well as fronting Sunflower, Kahlia has previously seen success as a member of family band The Fergies, touring Australia nation-wide, supporting bands like Powderfinger, The Cat Empire, The Jungle Giants, and Missy Higgins, as well as playing a host of other major events such as New Caledonia's Live en Aout Festival, Bluesfest, 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony, St Kilda Fest, Lord Mayor's Christmas Carols (televised nationally on Channel 9).
Sam’s genre-spanning production career has led to an intricate, fresh, and unique new sound in JUNO. Beginning his musical career in metal, Sam has also worked in a variety of electronic music genres, including: indie/rock, pop, electronic and more.
The duo’s talents compliment one another perfectly, with Sam’s intricate instrumentals and Kahlia’s soothing vocal melodies interweaving boldly. The music is entirely self-produced, recorded, and mixed by the duo from their home studio - testament to their skillset and commitment to their craft. Fans of Anderson .Paak, Mac Miller, Lizzo, HER, & Robert Glasper should keep a close eye on JUNO as they become one of Australia’s must-hear musical acts.
JUNO are set to release their debut single ‘Zero’ September 15.

No mistaking the influence of Lizzo on this single from Juno - the sass, the vocal, the structure is all from that super fun blueprint. I'm focusing on the super fun part, cos most importantly that's what this is.
