If you could choose just two words to describe emerging Townsville singer songwriter K–La, it would be sass and soul.
At just 17 years of age, the singer/songwriter/musician who originally hailed from Zimbabwe but has called Australia home for the past 11 years, K–La has achieved a huge amount.
If you can say that early influences make the mark of a lifetime on a child – then this would be it. K-La sings straight from her heart - her words bely her youth and her musicianship effortlessly moves from R and B and soul to Ballads and genre hopping along the way.
K-La was one of five finalists selected by Katie Noonan in the Queensland Music Festival’s On Song competition in 2017 for young singer/songwriters in regional Queensland.
She was also selected as one of ten to participate in the Big Sky Girls 2018 singer/songwriter mentorship program.
K-La has also been a participant of the APRA Songmakers workshop in Townsville held in early 2018 and was privileged to be part of the first all schools choir in Townsville to open Festival 18 for the Commonwealth Games.
She regularly performs at community and paid gigs, busks in Townsville and loves to share her music with her community.
Music moves deeply with K–La and with the release of her first single in 2019, she will be one to watch.
