Bio

A song about how “Lucky” i am to be alive in Australia couldn’t be better for an album lead single. Kanani does the opposite of the melbourne rap music sound incorporating classic break beat soul vocal layering with trap vibes while still respecting his church choir roots. It’s hard to progress when you’re “Stuck” on something that isn’t working. On this song frustrations with a childhood dream as an adult are expressed coupled with other conflicting loyalties.
“Every girl that has loved me, has loved me for stereotypes” so I find it hard to “Trust”. They say no man is an island but on the song “Stronga”, “I’ve been on my own, i started the grind am learning along” i only got so many supportive friends. Most are here to watch every move and smile when i hit my toe.“Fly away” is sang and rapped about challenges of being black as an immigrant. With what is aired on TV across Melbourne, whether you’re a refugee or an immigrant “That sh*t affects us all” as long as you’re black. Kanani is not loyal and it’s evident in how he blinks. “She can’t let a lie slide she knows how my eyes blink” on the song “Stereotypes”. I came into a different culture excited to try interracial relationships and i can only commit to a relationship for so long. I acknowledge everyone that supports me on the song “I Hope You Buy It”. The LP is an attempt to try different sounds in the soul/rap music sub-genre and as with every attempt “My Little Rose” makes sure the album isn’t running out of style.

This is a little rough around the edges but it has such positive energy! Love the beat and there's some catchy hooks throughout. Keep it up! Look forward to hearing more.
