Bio
KARLOU is the latest indie pop project from Sunshine Coast musician, Karrie Hayward. Cutting threads from her past folk singer-songwriter path, KARLOU has turned a new chapter indulging herself in sweet nostalgic pop hooks and weaving, sonic melodies with her upcoming release of her single, ‘Closer’, out NOVEMBER 12.
At the beginning of the project which launched in early 2019, KARLOU was releasing a set of anthemic pop songs which boasted youth and charisma. Returning with a touching release, ‘Closer’, this track sheds light on a much more vulnerable topic.
Working alongside, Brisbane Producer/Writer, Tom Eggert (MTNS, Vancouver Sleep Clinic, Golden Vessel), KARLOU presented the bones of the song that she had already penned. As an attempt to pass through all the emotions that she was feeling; this track tells her journey, unpacking all the struggles with mental health.
With the release of the her single, KARLOU announced a double headline show with Hope D at Solbar (Sunshine Coast) which instantly sold out in a matter of two days.
Following the release of her previous single, ‘Grew Up’, KARLOU received airplay from respected Australian radio stations which also included Triple J.
‘KARLOU's onto something here. The unique vocal snakes around your headphones so nicely with a fuzzy pop track soundtracking some adolescent misadventures.’
- Dave Ruby Howe (Triple J Unearthed Music Director
Welcoming the new single, KARLOU is set to release a music video in late November for ‘Closer’.

this song is the musical equivalent of that magician's trick when they quickly whip off a table cloth, leaving everything intact? when you pull the production right back, we're left with the emotional intensity in your vocals to be amazed by.

karlou this is really special. it's got this lush warmth to it and that build up of layers is just so expert. and when you pull it all back, ooooh boy, what a song!

Mix some sleek production with KARLOU's natural charisma and songwriting and you're onto something good. There's no way this one is leaving my head any time soon.
