The debut EP from upcoming Adelaide singer/songwriter Kayla Rose, is not your ordinary heartbreak-themed set of tracks. Thief seamlessly blends acoustic with electronic in a style that only further exacerbates Kayla Rose’s lyrical talent and soulful voice. Her poignant and introspective lyrics combined with raw vocal and instrumental artistry make for songs that show a maturity far beyond her 23 years. Though you can feel the torment pouring through these three tracks, there’s definitely a creativity that spurs from pain, any artist will tell you that. “Obviously, the whole EP is about heartbreak, that’s pretty clear. But I think for me, every song has that same expression of someone trying everything to fight for this person and their relationship together.
