Bio

Kiko Smokes is the brand new project from two members of Birds Of Tokyo, a member of Kim Churchill’s band and a former breakfast radio producer.

Ian Berney, Glenn Sarangapany, Michael Hardy and Jono Harrison spent the better half of 2016 writing, and developing their live show in their hometown of Sydney.

After testing the waters with Pins and Needles, the band has just released their first single 'Headline'.

The self-produced single was engineered by Nathan Sheehy (Birds Of Tokyo, Dune Rats) and mixed by Ian Pritchett (Boo Seeka, Angus & Julia Stone, Cog).

Singer Jono says Headline was written at a cross-roads in his life, “all at once a relationship was ending, someone close got sick, bad things kept on piling up and this phrase kept circling in my head, ‘You think the headline’s bad, you just wait to turn the page’.”

Years later this phrase would form the crescendo of a brutal 3 minute confessional that has turned heads, earning its first play on triple j and triple j unearthed radio.
