Founding members and teenage friend’s guitarist, Tyson Osewald and drummer, Milein Schulze drew a line in the sand in their formative years which lay the foundations of Kill Brunswick. The moniker came about some 15 years prior to the fact whilst bandmates in the Black Metal outfit, Black Water on the predestined stage of the Noise Bar (Now the Rail Road Hotel) in Brunswick. Truly they wanted to lay waste to the venue as they both had their Bill and Ted / Wayne’s World light bulb moment as they said, “We’re going to kill Brunswick tonight”, “Band name!”. Metallica’s thrash roots serve as the lightning rod for the line up’s adoption of its dark core which made an impressionable impact on the remainder of members within vocalist Cameron Mckay and bassist Darcey Coffey though all parties wouldn’t meet till 2015. Other prevalent influences spout from the 90s with Alternative crossover bands such as the likes of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More and the reaction to that at the turn of the millennium which saw the height of the Nu Metal movement with such bands as Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Deftones. Moving forward there is an avid interest within the quartet to continue to create in a metal framework but with an awareness of the importance of an act like Radiohead.
