Kingston Crown originally started with Kenny and Craig realising their shared love of soul and RnB. After a meeting in Craig’s bedroom, the unnamed project was launched. After writing a few songs together the boys recruited an old friend and “The Beat Maker” Mr. Rick Berry. With not much persuasion over a cup of tea they made it official. “It was a simple choice, Kenny’s voice always makes me swoon” – Rick At this point Craig and Rick took charge however they where strongly influenced by their past, which was rather heavy and somewhat unrefined. So the search began for a compatible and creative bass player. After a few disappointing attempts, Rick recruited classmate Alex Orr and it was clear to see that he was the missing piece of the puzzle. “Rick approached me and I agreed to have a jam with him. We were cooking some sweet grooves, so I said yes, and that’s how it started” – Alex Kenny and Rick both write a lot of tunes on the keys which meant that at some point the boys knew they had to find a keyboard player. While preparing themselves for the gruelling auditions process, they came across the name James Fleming by pure chance and excellent luck. One song in, the juices were flowing and the rest is history. That my friends is the genesis of Kingston Crown – Watch this space, for more information as the group record, perform and travel!!
