Bio
Known for his remixes of Cut Copy and Midnight Juggernaughts, Knightlife also makes his own fun disco music that will set the Melbourne Parklife audience wild!
Tell us about your music – how did you develop your sound?
Knightlife is sort of discoey, housesy, slightly poppy dance music. It can be any one of those on any given day. The initial sound was pretty much based on my musical heroes. It was me trying to sound like 'those guys'. But the more I write, the more I find myself sort of focusing on the certain things about music that I really love. Like, all those times when you're listening to a record and you think 'how good would it be if the track did that!' That's where your style comes from. Well, it's where mine does anyway.
What can the Parklife festival audience expect from you live gig?
Probably a bunch of songs they've never heard before! But hopefully, some they'll like enough to dance to. My sets never start and finish in the same place, so they're kind of hard to predict. Expect a lot of (old) disco and a good dose of house musique.
Who are you looking most forward to see at Parklife?
Aeroplane. I've been I big fan of their work for a while now. Everything they put out is solid. Their DJ sets are always pretty amazing too.
What’s coming up in the future?
Another 12" on Cutters Records before the end of the year and an album in 2010.
Australian music is?
Pretty... pretty... pretty... pretty good.
