Bio

Sydney-via-Central Coast’s Lady Lyon returns with her fourth single, ‘Surf’s Up’. An impassioned song which hears Lady Lyon once again employ her own style of folk rock, ‘Surf’s Up’ marks a significant sonic shift as the artist continues to hit her stride when it comes to finding and exploring her sound.

With story-telling lyrics, a no-holds-barred vocal delivery and driving guitars, ‘Surf’s Up’ is an intense listening experience. Sounding at once familiar and nostalgic, as well as totally fresh, Lady Lyon’s relatability, unconventional melodies and nuanced lyrics make for a deeply personal yet entirely universal new single. Tapping Mark Piccles (ADKOB) for collaboration, ‘Surf’s Up’ is energetic, eclectic and delivered through a thick, groovy barrel of layered production.

Focusing on the yearning for connection back to oneself after trauma or the breakdown of a relationship, ‘Surf’s Up’ is a passionate plea to help find your way back. Inspired by being completely destroyed by someone or something, Lady Lyon explores the emotional upheaval of realising you’re not who you used to be, and the resilience required to return there.

Lifted from her forthcoming second EP out 2021, ‘Surf’s Up’ is the latest addition to Lady Lyon’s already extensive resume with six years in the game under her belt. Her debut EP, Champion Blues, saw her dive deep into a decade of her life, and she’s considerably developed and honed her craft both in the studio and on the road with her band over the last few years. With ‘Surf’s Up’, Lady Lyon now commences her second chapter, and is poised and ready to once again cut to the core of her listeners with her very unique sound.

Impassioned and empowered, Lady Lyon embodies the animal by which she's (sort of) named. It's a song that swells with intensity across its nearly five minutes.
