Bio

Born in a share-house in the south of Sydney Australia, Up Late are a young five piece drawing influence from emo rock, pop & rap to create a sound all their own. The group flirt with infectious pop vocal melodies, sparkling guitar lines and floor-shaking bass tones - sharing tonal qualities with artists like Post Malone and The Neighbourhood and sonics from album's like Kanye's Yeezus or Bring Me The Horizon's That's The Spirit. Launching in May of 2020 with their entry into Triple J's DIY Supergroup competition, the group immediately shot to the top of the Triple J Unearthed charts. They scored multiple 4.5 and a perfect 5 star reviews from Triple J presenters, including a 4.5 star from Triple J's own director Richard Kingsmill.

Their debut single and music video, FRIENDS was premiered by Triple J Unearthed and cemented their blend of earthquake inducing bass sounds with light and delicate pop elements. The track caught the attention of Sydney heavy bass and grime producer, MOONBASE who remixed the song, turning it into a festival ready dance/trap anthem. Shortly after the release of FRIENDS Up Late were named one of the "ten most exciting discoveries" of 2020 by Triple J and were featured as one of the few artists in Unearthed's "five-star club".

Up Late's follow up single U LEFT ME ON READ shares similarities with artists like Joji and Post Malone, dancing between intimate verses and an anthemic sing-along chorus. The song's instrumentation is borrowed from the aggression and drive of rock music but still sits firmly in the pop/rap world.

Up Late coming in hot. Fierce lay down at the chorus. The direction and energy droppin' out of this band is large, bold and mighty strong.

Yes dogs! It's like if Bye Bye Bye by NSYNC had a lip ring and tatts.
