Bio

Standing a tiny 5 feet tall, fast-talking and well-travelled, Lisa De Angelis blends traditional folk music with her own modern grit. Her Americana musical styling and warm, smoky vocal weave stories of heartbreak, redemption and desire between verbal storytelling and candid onstage banter. Scrappy, vulnerable and heartfelt, De Angelis hails from Sydney's southwest and honed her craft in the deep south of the United States.

In early 2019, De Angelis graduated from CMAA’s prestigious ‘Academy of Country Music’ in Tamworth, being mentored by InDustry heavyweight Kevin Bennett (Kevin Bennett and the Flood / Bennett, Bowtell and Urquhart) and flourishing under the tutelage of Lyn Bowtell and Roger Corbett (The Bushwackers). The Academy preceded her first year performing at the Tamworth Country Music Festival - both in her own right as a singer-songwriter, as well as opening the Festival with The Academy in a nationally televised performance on the main stage in Tamworth’s Toyota Park.

Currently, De Angelis is promoting her acoustic EP ‘The Prairie Fire Sessions’, which was released in January 2019. In the same month, her crossover single ‘Hand-Me-Downs’ with Melbourne Folk-punk musician Luke Seymoup went to number one on the Triple J Unearthed punk Charts and passed 20,000 Spotify streams in its first month.

Often the best things come in small packages and this is no exception. I can totally feel the fire behind the vocals and from the recording alone you can tell that Lisa De Angelis has a great presence in her music.
