Bio

My name is Ted. I've been part of a band called Localles for a while now. We have been plugging away, recording and releasing some stuff and slowly getting our line up sorted. In March of 2019 we went in to record an EP. Our last release had been in 2017, then shit got derailed because my heart went a bit stupid. I had what is called a pericardial cyst, about the size of an iPhone but a bit thicker, which was pushing my heart and lungs out of place. So I had to get that removed, which meant I couldn't play or sing for a while. But we had these songs that we were really happy with.
After a while I started healing, so we could begin preproduction and getting our shit back together. We recorded at Woodstock in Melbourne with Greg Rietwyk (from Press Club, mad guitarist and all round lovely man). It was great. So much fun to be back playing. And we thought 'shit, this actually sounds pretty good!' We were excited to release and get moving again.
Three weeks after recording, I found out that I had Thyroid cancer. What a bitch. I would have to have surgery to remove my thyroid, possibly part of my trachea too. Three weeks after my diagnosis, my son was born premature, so we spent a week or so living in the NICU. He pulled through and is now kicking goals. Two months after that, I had surgery, which went very well. Six months of not being able to speak in anything other than the husky tones of a pack a day smoker, then my voice finally came good. We began rehearsing again. Played some shows over summer. Got ready to go again. Then 2020 came around. Fuck.

The EP we recorded in March 2019 is called Standing On Thin Air. It is a collection of songs based around two themes - physical health (bet you can't guess why!) and the political and societal climate of Australia. We are very happy with the result and are looking forward to FINALLY releasing it to the world.

A grungy, half glass full story is what everyone needs at some stage in their life. Good luck Ted, lots of love and support to you for the next few days/weeks.
