Lonely Boys are from the remote Arnhemland community of Ngukurr 700 km south east of Darwin.
They are a six-piece guitar inspired rock band who have been playing in local and surrounding communities for over nine years.
In 2006 Lonely Boys won the Barunga Battle of the bands competition, this was no easy task given the quality of the performers at that year's festival. They have gone on to win many such contests. The band’s commitment to performing and their high level of performance skill has been an inspiration to other bands in the community.
The dedication to music of key Lonely Boys members Ambrose Daniels and Bert Rami is bearing fruit amongst the disaffected younger members of the community. Both Ambrose and Bert have been responsible for steering a dysfunctional group of young boys into music and away from anti social behaviour and those boys have formed their own band called ‘Bad Tee Boys’ who went on to win the Barunga Road Safety song competition within 6 months of forming in 2011.
They have performed extensively across Arhnemland to thousands of adoring fans at Indigenous community festivals including a recent headline performance at the 2014 Barunga Festival. At Barunga this year, their new song 'The Hunter' was the subject of an APRA workshop with Nicky Bomba and his band 'Bustamento' - and incredible experience and collaboration between artists from different sides of the country and musical spectrum who got to share their expertise.
Lonely Boys released their local album called Lonely Child in 2007.
Ambrose Daniels leads Lonely Boys and has a vision to create opportunities for the band to perform at major gigs around the country.
