Bio
Australian post-punk band The Lonesomes have hit the ground running in 2021 with their new single 'DOG DAYS'
Whilst giving a nod to the band's sonic origins, ‘Dog Days’ adds a new twist and element to their sound. The slow-burning track starts with a dark synth wave inspired feel before slowly progressing and climaxing into a hard hitting fuzz sound. A wrecking ball to all in its path.
On the songs direction and marked change for the band, Vocalist / Drummer Matt Callan explains:
"We wanted to write an atmospheric track that kept toying with the idea of gradual additions of sound. Starting the song with a robotic drum-beat that just rolls along with the bass line as each element gets added, the song gradually gets more intense and climaxes into a wall of heavy sound.”
“We wanted to create a dark sense of unease in the track, A car in a forest driving through the fog, coming or going, running from something or towards it.. Nobody knows...as dumb as it sounds that's the visual we got from it straight off the bat"
The lads have a string of launch shows currently booked across Brisbane, Gold Coast, & Byron Bay to celebrate the release as well as a full length video release that’s in the works.
Hailing from the Gold Coast formed in 2018, Since then have played shows with Dune Rats, The Chats, Los Scallywags, Peter Bibby and Verge Collection to name a few.
Review
The last minute and a half of this track really got me as the band up their dark garage vibe with a frenzied finish.
