Bio

Stadium dreams on a bedroom budget

In the lead up to the release of their sophomore full-length All The Rage next month, Melbourne rock group LOSER have lifted another single titled 'Skyward' today, after its premiere on triple j's 2021 with Richard Kingsmill last night. It comes alongside its alien-infused music video.

Boasting guitar solos channelling the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age, ‘Skyward’ is sandwiched in the middle of a rock lovers-delight of a record. Self-recorded out of LOSER's newly launched Restless Noise Studios and mixed by Anton Hagop (Silverchair, Powderfinger), All The Rage draws on the band's penchant for nostalgic rock, pummelling riffs and larger-than-life solos.

Combining threads of bands like Oasis, Wheezer, blink-182, Smashing Pumpkins and Green Day with a distinctive LOSER twist, All The Rage is set to be remembered as essential Melbourne-rock listening in years to come.

Speaking of the album, bassist Craig Selak comments: “I hope there’s something on this album that people feel like they can relate to," adding:

“Even a song like ‘Skyward’ – I mean, it’s about aliens, but it’s also about feeling like when shit’s hitting the fan, you can step out and just focus on yourself....I think that’s the overarching theme of the album: you don’t have to step away and hide from the world, you can look within and find something that makes you feel more comfortable. And that really sums up the personal growth we all went through in trying to record this album, learning not to overthink things, and Tim (Maxwell, vocals)’s personal journey with his mental health over the pandemic."

A standout from LOSER's new album just dropped, it's got all the things that the band do better than most around atm; meaty riffs and classic grunge chunkiness that's counterbalanced by some high flying hooks.

this song makes me feel like I could do a kickflip. have I ever even had the desire to do a kickflip? not once in twenty-two years, but I still think I could do one right now because of the fuel and strength this LOSER track provided and that's what matters.

The new album is shaping out to be a corker of a record with the amount of solid singles these guys have been dropping. This one's an energised stomper.
