Bio

Loston, is the project of Australian music producer Scott Mellor. He rose to popularity with a flurry of independent soundcloud releases, grabbing the attention of many prominent blogs including Hypebeast and Earmilk, catapulting his productions to the top of the Hype Machine charts on three occasions and chalking up millions of plays.

Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, Loston creates heartbreaking synth heavy soundscapes, injecting a raw and beautiful dose of emotion throughout his catalogue. Applying pop sensibilities to meandering passages, Loston creates energetic and mood filled works that are both thought evoking and dance worthy, creating his own lane in the modern music landscape.

Taking electronic elements and blending them with analogue instruments , his music is always anchored in a tangible mood of melancholy before building to a crescendo of elation. The works live on a spectrum of moods, from tragic to victorious.

Mellor uses the Loston project as a personal creative avenue outside of his dayjob of running world renowned design studio StudioThinkTank, where he cultivates creative direction and artwork for artists such as Tom Morello, Labrinth, The Bloody Beetroots, Shockone and ZHU.

“It's massive but has a top secret quality that softens it just a touch. A palatable whomper, if you will.” – Declan Byrne, triple j

“Through incredible electronic climbs , Loston draws fabulous landscapes and transports us to a rich universe, with colorful tones” – Hypebeast

Woah, this is some epic work from Loston. Got the electronic freakery of early M83 with a stadium sized delivery. My goosebumps just got goosebumps.

I can genuinely say I haven't heard it done in quite this way before. It rules that you have your own sound and that you are pursuing it relentlessly. Good on you for that.

Slow but nothing sluggish here, this one hits like one from Muto or even Flume.
