About
Low Downs is the new project of Elliot Taylor, previously the frontman of Hobart’s Tiger Choir. In his new incarnation, Taylor’s swapped the apple aisle for the (organic) apple aisles of Melbourne to make new electronic work. It’s a world away Tiger Choir’s past releases. What you’ve got instead is a blend of hip-hop, RnB and electronica, seeing Taylor experiment with spoken-word verse influenced by the soundscapes of Alan Kingdom, Donchristian, Shabazz Palaces, and Serengeti. And he gets it, too: now’s a better time than ever to be producing electronic music in Australia. His melodies glide over textural synths and degenerate beats in a style free from what you’d normally find in a post-Kaytranada world.
