Bio

Luke Marshall is a singer-songwriter and artist based in Adelaide, Australia. Drawing on emotions, nature’s beauty and experiences his music can be best described as dreamy alternative folk. Born in Central Australia and growing up in a coastal town, there has always been a strong connection with the land and sea. Having a natural understanding of how powerful sounds and words can be, songwriting became a way to express emotion and process the world around him.

Travelling through Europe, Luke was captivated by street performers and musicians and the profound effect art can have on us. This experience inspired Luke to continue writing and begin sharing his music with the world leading to his first EP, ‘Forest By The Sea’ (Sept, 2015).

Inspired by artists City and Colour, Gregory Alan Isakov, Bonobo and Ry X his live performance is intimate & enchanting with open expressions of love, loss & vulnerability creating a dream state connection. Luke says: “Performing live for people is such an elevating experience, being able to tell a story and transcend communication barriers. Music is a powerful energy that is shared by the performer and audience, an energy that is beautiful and unique to each show”

2019 has been a big year for Luke after releasing his second EP, ‘Shelter & Rain’ (Nov, 2018) his music has been streamed over 14,500 times on Spotify from 1,100 different listeners across 45 different countries. He was played on Triple J Unearthed, community radio across Australia and his sold out Adelaide Fringe Show ‘Shelter & Rain’ received 4/5 stars from This is Radelaide. To top it off he received a nomination for The People's Choice Award (Folk Artist) for the 2019 South Australian Music Awards. Luke is set to release his debut album in 2020 followed by a world tour across the US, India & Europe.

Gentle, intimate and deep in thought. Certainly one to cosy up to.

Gentle, introspective and calming, Marshall's ability to create boundless landscapes with his music is a clear talent and a pure joy to listen to.

Dreamy material from Luke Marshall, here. It's carefully sparse - you might get swallowed by the spaces between.
