Artist:The Lurra Collective

The Lúrra Collective is the product of series of community storytelling projects created through partnerships with Desert Pea Media and the community of Maningrida in Central Western Arnhem Land NT. 'Lurra' is the traditional word for life. For the interconnectedness between every living thing. Home to over 150 language groups, Maningrida NT is one of the last remaining strongholds of Indigenous culture in Australia, the country upon which this story was created is ancient and sacred. That vitality and strength echoes through this community, and all of the countrymen of Arnhem Land. Without country, water, story and connection, we are lost. Without dialogue and communication around these issues we do not have the capacity to change our world - we are powerless to affect change.
