About
Malcura are an acoustic trio from Melbourne, Australia, whose sound explores the rhythmic style of flamenco, while drawing inspiration from genres such as progressive rock, pop and heavy metal. 2015 saw Malcura engage in an extensive year of street performing in Bourke St, the cultural epicentre of Melbourne CBD, alongside well-known acts such as The Pierce Brothers, Woodlock and Tash Sultana. Their tireless work busking in support of their debut EP, “Flamenco Metal”, allowed them to steadily build their fan-base with sales in the thousands, while also developing the synergy of their live performance. During this time, Malcura began crafting what would eventually become their first full-length album. Furthering the band’s momentum was a chance appearance on stage at The Palais Theatre with Mexican guitar heroes Rodrigo y Gabriela during their 2015 Australian tour. “Malcura”, the band’s self-titled debut album, was released on February 18th 2016, with a successful launch show on the ...
