Bio

Born from the Western Australian music scene and based in Perth, Man Sandal are a five piece collective of diverse musicians who are wooing the west with their captivating and unique sound in cities and small towns alike.

Man Sandal brews a bewitching concoction of music influenced by jazz and folk with an alternative flavour of indie pop rock woven throughout which has made them a band to watch. Satisfying three part harmonies, soaring violin solos and a joyful trumpet to tie it all together, this band combines to create an addictive sound that has built Man Sandal a faithful following throughout Perth and beyond.

Casually frequenting iconic Perth music haunts, such as The Bird, Clancy’s Fish Pub Fremantle and The Rosemount Hotel to name a few, this five piece has truly earned their place in the Perth music scene with their casually cool attitude and genuine love for making bodies move.

Some of their most recent triumphs include two WAM Song Of The Year nominations in 2017 and 2020 as well as taking the stage at the Nannup Music Festival in 2017, Fairbridge Festival in 2017 and 2019, WAMFest 2016 and 2018, being featured on triple j unearthed and winning a number of accolades at the “Fairbridge Quest” songwriting competition. In most recent times, the five-piece have toured regionally with Noah Dillon and have played alongside an array of local artists including Airline Food, Sly Withers, Fraeya, Smol Fish and more.

Man Sandal released their first single “By Your Side” in 2016 and their first EP in 2017 titled “Fancy Couch” which was closely followed by their second EP “Last Night’s Dinner” in 2018. Just before releasing their latest single “Do Yourself a Favour” at the end of 2019, they spent a week in the small cosy town of Bremer Bay to record the most part of their upcoming debut album, set to be released mid-2021.

They will be introducing the first taste of the LP with their single “Adulthood” on January 6th 2021. The song talks about navigating the world of adulthood as a young person, such as dealing with climate change anxiety in the midst of personal growth. This upbeat track has a consistent driving tempo which acts as a framework for the blanket of lush melodic lines from the trumpet and violin.

There is no doubt, socks and sandals are in, and Man Sandal are set to make 2021 their biggest year yet.

Socks + sandals are a massive vibe. This is so relatable and charismatic and real and I love the way those horns add so much personality to this. Thank you Man Sandal.
