Bio

"If you’re on the market for some blistering grunge / punk / noisy pop, Mannequin Death Squad is the band you want"

"Blasts of bratty, sharp-tongued punky noise" - Aural Aggravation

Melbourne punk rock duo Mannequin Death Squad are having an ear-splitting 2018 having already established themselves as a force to the reckoned with in their home town and in Europe. A chance meeting with legendary Australian producer, Mark Opitz Cold Chisel, Divinyls, INXS, Bad//Dreems), has led the band recently to record a series of Opitz-produced, mind-melting new tracks that will be released over tthe remainder of 2018 starting with the incendiary single Honey Punch.

Having released three singles (Sick, KYMS and Van Gogh) and the EP Eat, Hate, Regurgitate, the band has already embarked on two tours of the UK and Europe in 2017.

“Eat Hate Regurgitate” is an empowering explosion of raw energy, frothing anger and crucially, great tunes" - Andy Von Pip from The VPME

The new tracks find MDS more focussed and intense than ever before. Picking up on their favorite themes of chaos, fantasy, ignorance, vanity and destruction, Honey Punch is accompanied by the highly stylized video, directed by the band themselves in a backstreet Fitzroy warehouse.

The sonic assault of Mannequin Death Squad is all the more remarkable with the unholy racket being generated by just Dan and El, alternating on drums, guitar and vocals, creating a huge sound that brings to mind panoramic rock sounds bursting out of a claustrophobic, tight space – the impact is volcanic!

“There is darkness, rebellion and a real sense of the subversive” – “Listen With Monger" on Van Gogh.

In 2018 Mannequin Death Squad are stepping it up a notch or three.

Sneering punk behaviour that's hard not to mosh along to.

So grunge! Saw these guys live a few weeks ago and it was great. Packed room, lots of energy and talent. The two of them switched roles which is something you rarely see. El went from killing that guitar and singing, to smashing those drums. They kept you on your feet. There are more songs from that set that I want to hear again and I can't wait to hear them.

More like suckerpunch. Cops a strong underground punk sound. It's destructive and full of attitude. I wouldn't want to mess with you two. I'm all for it.
