Marquez (aka Steve Marquette) was brought up on a diet of Roy Orbison, The Beatles, Elvis, Tom Jones, Cliff Richard, The Shadows, Elton John, ABBA, Buddy Holly, John Lennon, The Animals, Blondie and not to mention Herb Albert & The Tijuana Brass to name but a few. This was due to his parents record collection which he devoured as a kid. Though his parents only told him half the story. Some of his first purchases when he could could afford his own records evolved into Bruce Springsteen's 'Born to Run' and 'Darkness on the Edge of Town', Dire Straits, Cold Chisel, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Lenard Cohen, Tom Waits and Tom Petty. These artists, in particularly Springsteen, lit the flame and laid the foundation for the Marquez song writing approach. Starting as a solo artist his songs are adaptable to a bigger sound when he wraps his band around them.
