At 16 years of age, Matilda Dods has a maturity in her songwriting that belies her age. And has created a genre entirely of her own, planted firmly between seashanty indie and sadcore pop. Her passion for telling stories through song can be at times poignant and at other times facetious. A true observer, Matilda's songs reflect her view of the world around her Her voice resonates with maturity well beyond her years, and she sings like a soul that has been here much longer than her body. She has a keen interest in the human mind and hopes to study sociology and musicology. Her songs are real, honest and raw; her voice rich and sincere. Matilda adores songwriting and music and her talent was recognized when she was selected to perform at the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival in 2011 and 2013.
