Bio

ALL ABOARD!
17-year-old Australian Songstress Matilda Pearl invites you into her fun 'mermaid meets disco ball' world, making music to make you move. She likes to describe her music as “glock-pop,” taking inspiration from the likes of Deee-Lite, Madonna, Jamiroquai, Benee, Boney M and Sigrid. Matilda wants to empower people to be unapologetically and fearlessly themselves. She grew up on a boat swimming with and singing to dolphins, even being named after one. Her parents like to joke, "if nothing else, they have given her a pretty good backstory." Matilda has been surrounded by music her whole life, living in her mum’s art studio and listening to a wide range of music with her family before singing with the Victorian Opera as a young teenager and now writing and recording her own unique “glock-pop” sound and releasing dance-inspiring, original songs.

Matilda Pearl's new single SOAK is the perfect introduction to her fun, catchy and bold sound, capturing her “girl power” vibe. The strong tune filters through a kaleidoscope of disco, electronic and pop influences, guaranteed to make you bop.

I saw the Benee comparison in a review and the name of the track doubled that expectation. I had no more time for expectations when that bass kicked in. Such a groove. Already a great addition to the Unearthed High class of 2020.

This is the sort of forward thinking pop record that I could listen to over and over. Channeling a little Benee and a whole lot of Matilda Pearl

what a great step up here from matilda pearl. it's so assured and that energy is more infectious than, well, you know.
