Bio
Matt Hsu is a 2020 QMusic Award winning composer and multi-instrumentalist who creates intricately-crafted experimental music using world instruments and rethought everyday objects. His one-person orchestra project Matt Hsu’s Obscure Orchestra is the brainchild of his offbeat musical sensibilities.
Drawing on his Taiwanese-Australian roots, he creates otherworldly compositions that celebrate difference, inclusivity and the liminal space between cultures. As an advocate of fair treatment for marginalised peoples, he often uses music projects to underscore First Nations, gender diverse, refugee and immigrant issues.
Matt has composed and performed for TEDx, Bigsound, LaBoite Theatre and Brisbane Festival.

not often enough do we get such vulnerable, emotional, honest insights into the countless intersections of one's identity. once again, I'm incredibly grateful that you're using your immense talent and platform to share these stories.

A gorgeous brew conducted by Matt Hsu and company - it's underpins the spoken word piece that aches for acceptance and change.

i'm sure it's expertly put together but wow it feels so free and off the cuff, like something a room of really talented humans would just come up with in an afternoon.
