Producer, singer and songwriter May Lyn crafts lush atmospheric R&B. Vulnerable yet evoking strength, her storytelling shines through her sincere lyrics and distinctly whimsical voice.
The Malaysian native was first introduced to Brisbane’s music scene through a beat session hosted by producer, Night Palms. Surrounded by a community of passionate creatives, May was encouraged and inspired to develop her craft. In 2015, she captured the attention of local audiences with her left-of-field pop debut, ‘Ascension’ released through Dub Temple Records, followed by single and music video, ‘Escape’ in collaboration with visual artist Anna Litwinowicz.
In 2016, May released her sophomore EP, Vessels - entirely self-produced and recorded in her home studio. It has received international airplay and was named one of the best releases of 2017 by Purple Sneakers and gained a #1 spot on 4ZZZ’s most played releases.
Not one to shy away from experimentation and provocative storytelling, May shared a politically charged single, ‘Soldiers’. The song made her a finalist in the Triple J Unearthed NIDA competition in 2017, allowing her to produce a music video in collaboration with NIDA. The track went on to receive a nomination for 'Best Electronic Track' at the 2018 QLD Music Awards.
May made a fresh return at the end of the summer of 2019 with Froot Loop and Like A Woman, two vibrant and bold tracks celebrating self-love and femininity. She is currently working on a debut album which spells out an exciting future for this versatile artist.
