Melbourne’s very own six piece soul outfit, fuse together soulful beats, smooth melodies and powerhouse vocals that give this classic sound a modern urban twist. Add in a pinch of R&B and a teaspoon of funk, and you’ve got one delicious combination of sonic flavours.
Mayfield oozes class, they sound a lot like a martini (shaken, not stirred obviously) in one hand, a light cigar in the other with one foot slowly tapping to the cool, sensual beats, fat grooves and sassy vocals.
Mayfield released their debut 12 track album “Victim of Circumstance” in 2017 (To a sold out audience at the Gasometer hotel). Mayfield’s debut record was engineered, produced & mastered by Mayfield’s own drummer Ivan ‘Choi’ Khatchoyan (Cooking on 3 Burners & The Traffic). Since it’s release their album was awarded PBS FM 106.7 feature album of the week and received rave reviews and international airplay and praise from Craig Charles on BB6 FM in the UK.
Following their release they sold out their special one night only performance at “Chapel Summer Sessions” at Chapel off chapel and The Paris Cat jazz club. Mayfield were also a featured finalist on the St Kilda festival- New music stage, after being hand chosen out of 400 applicants nation wide and they have recently supported Grammy award nominee, writer and producer Eric Roberson (Jill Scott, Dwele, Musiq Soul Child, Robert Glasper) at Birds Basement.
The band has a strong live reputation as being a staple in the thriving Melbourne soul scene from their high level of musicianship and their ability to get people on the dance floor. The band is fronted by vocal powerhouse, Carla Troiano, who was also a featured vocalist on Melbourne’s ‘Women Of Soul’ that was a collaboration with other female artists such as Kylie Auldist and Chelsea Wilson.
Mayfield have been spreading the groove across the festival circuit including, Melbourne Music Week, First Crush Festival, End of the Line Festival, Panacea Festival, Live and Local festival and Stonington Jazz Festival, the Happy Wander festival, Soul A go go and The Australian Grand Prix.
