Bio

Brisbane four-piece Melaleuca have wasted no time in developing and locking in their unique brand of grunge, alt-rock and pop with a self-referential twist within their local Brisbane scene.

In 2021 Melaleuca have taken their endearingly sardonic and fun sound on the road, supporting Brisbane heavyweights BUGS and Teenage Joans at sold out shows in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. With no plans to slow down, Melaleuca should be on everyone’s radar as a rising star of Australian alt-rock.

Their new single "Jane’s In Town" is a short and punchy offering that has become a fan-favourite at live shows. The track is self recorded and has been mixed by Brock Weston (Bugs / Beddy Rays). Co-lead singer Jane Milroy explains, “I had spent a weekend hanging out with friends and I am the friend that always gets picked on because I do and say a lot of silly things. I came home and I wrote the opening line ‘my friends make fun of me, but thats okay, cause thats the role I play’.”

Since their inception in 2019, the band have played sold out shows with Bugs, Sweater Curse, Teenage Joans, TOWNS, VOIID, Screamfeeder and Waxflower and sold out two sessions for their first headlined single launch shows in March 2021.

Melaleuca’s impressive live show and songwriting cement them as one of the most exciting bands currently coming out of Brisbane.

it's a slice of suburban, straight talking, scrappy indie rock that had me saying 'fk yeah me too' time after time. melaleuca are in some good areas at the moment!

Fast and I'm furiously replaying this one. It's a speedy '90s guitar pop gem from Melaleuca.

i'm looking over to your 'sounds like' section and this one really makes sense. it's golden, nostalgic indie that has me swooning hard.
