Bio
Memphis LK is a Melbourne/Narrm based artist, producer, vocalist and DJ.
Introducing herself with the powerfully direct independent single 'Speak Honestly', Memphis' atmospheric club music and purposeful lyrics candidly share her journey to self-empowerment. Now a welcome addition to music authorities Dot Dash Recordings (Methyl Ethel, Sui Zhen), she continues to bloom with the release of her new single 'Roses' with a promising album on the 2020 horizon.
Raised on strong female figures - soul legends, 90s r&b queens and pop superstars, Memphis fell in sync with electronic music six years ago. Teaching herself Ableton, she eventually began reverse engineering Detroit electro, UKG and breakbeat to fuse her own futurist mutations with song. Debuting live in support of Meshell Ndegeocello at Melbourne Recital Centre, the versatile artist is also part of the Melbourne/Narrm dance music massive, twisting parties with the likes of DJ Koze and Ms Boogie.

roses really hits differently to Speak Honestly. The beats a little more thumping and her delivering is driven quickly across it. It’s decisively the same artist though, she’s in her own lane making these left of center electro-pop records that are all Mem.

First up, you've reminded me of a very specific Aphex Twin track here - 'On'. It's that lovely glistening water drop like refrain that's taking me there, and I am alllllll about it. Second, I was worried that 4 and a half mins was going to take a while, but I was completely absorbed by the song and it didn't feel like it overstayed even for a second. Lovely, lovely...
