Bio

This Mess are an electronica duo who weave rich vocals and live instrumentation with intricately programmed beats and samples. Their fanciful layering of colours and improvised performances forge a kaleidoscope of sound that could only be This Mess. Since their fiery beginnings in 2012, This Mess have already shared the stage with luminaries such as Sneaky Sound System, Polographia, Goldfields and Ganga Giri. They have also been embraced by the Australian festival scene playing at large scale events including Dragon Dreaming, Harmonize and Regrowth Festival. Their debut EP, released in November and mastered by Dave Cooley, engineer for the likes of MF Doom and J Dilla, has been warmly received by Australian radio being played on stations such as Triple J Unearthed and FBi Radio. The release also generated much acclaim from music blogs, both local and international, and was dubbed "a testament to the validity in the rising genre of chillwave" by Australian music website Tone Deaf. Likewise, Toronto blog Open 'til Midnight proclaimed that the duo are "destined to leave an indelible mark on the chillout end of the electronic spectrum, perhaps evolving it to a higher plane." Their highly anticipated follow up album is set to be released in Summer followed by an extensive Australian tour.

These guys just keep nailing it. We better watch out that they don't outgrow their little backyard and piss off to the UK to rub it with Disclosure, AlunaGeorge etc.

I'm impressed by this tune. It's got the energy and production power to mix it with the likes of George Maple, Disclosure et al. I'd say that it's ocassionally over-sung but that's one small gripe.

This is a winner. The production is really slinky and smooth and the treatment on the vocals is just spot on. 3.5 from me in the hope that whatever's next is even better.
