Bio
Michael McCartney is one of our music industries invisible phantoms - behind the scenes, from project to project. He's contributed to a myriad of other artists creations, now he's sharing his.
Inspired by artists and producers alike, McCartney draws from a genre-spanning pool of creators like Mark Ronson, Kasey Musgraves, Bad Bad Not Good, David Byrne, Harry Styles, Gotye, and Gillian Welch.
Spending time honing his ‘Vintage Pop’ sound over the past 3 years, ‘Too Long’ is the first single of his Debut EP, in a series of four EP’s due for release over the coming 12 months.
With collaboration in his blood, the series features long term musical partner Ian Peres (Matt Corby, Ruel, Jarryd James), and for the much of the creative mix-duties, McCartney turned to in-demand producer and mixer engineer Konstantin Kersting (Mallrat, Tones & I, San Mei) sighting Kersting’s unique and exploratory sonic touch.
McCartney’s debut single 'Too Long' was recorded on the Gold Coast (Australia), at Love St Studios. It's a desperate call to action for us to slow down and take stock - both personally and as an international community. Inspired by the podcast ‘The End Of The World with Josh Clarke' he’d listened to while traveling South East Asia in 2019, this song couldn't be more relevant to the world its being released into.
‘Too Long’ will be available on all streaming service April 17th, with the Taxi EP to be released on May 15th.

Real tidy start to Michael's project. How nice is the vocal here? Got that Kev Parker touch in places.
