“Michelle Cashman moves you because she always sings directly from the heart… the fact that she has a great voice is a bonus” - Allan Caswell
From youth homelessness to charting singer-songwriter, Michelle Cashman seems to have lived a few lifetimes in one. Her songs can testify to that. The americana songwriter connects with her audience through her heartfelt songs and stories of the trials and triumphs of the human condition.
Michelle started writing songs at 14 and found music was a way to process the world and express herself. She is incredibly passionate about creating music and sharing stories that inspire people to create a better life in spite of any challenge or heartbreak they face. As an entertainer she is captivating.
“I believe everything Michelle Cashman sings. She’s the kind of woman who changes the atmosphere of the room the moment she steps in front of a mic. That’s a rare gift.” - Lachlan Bryan
Returning to her music career after almost seven years away due to a debilitating health condition, Michelle hit the road running; completing the Senior Country Music Academy in Tamworth in January 2020 and attending songwriting retreats, coming away with a bunch of co-writes with artists such as Lyn Bowtell, Lachlan Bryan and Melody Moko.
Michelle then released her first official radio release “Guys Like You” in February 2020, debuting at number 2 on the iTunes chart and then spending 18 weeks in the top 50 of the official Music Network Radio Airplay Charts, receiving radio play both overseas and Australia wide including CMC, CMT and high rotation on ABC radio and Kix FM.
Michelle appeared as a finalist on The Voice in 2018 as part of Team Boy George and has previously supported artists including Daryl Braithwaite, Beccy Cole, Adam Harvey, Adam Brand, and Paul Kelly but sites her greatest achievement as impact:
“The absolute highlight of being a songwriter is when someone reaches out and tells me what one of my songs has done for them. I know without a doubt that music really can change a life and to know I’m a part of that for someone is like nothing else”.
Returning to her roots on the NSW South Coast, when Michelle is not focussing her time writing, recording and performing, she’s spending it with her family, friends and learning to surf. Her latest offering, a completely acoustic album “All The Mountains I Must Climb” is a collection of her songs and stories that she is taking on the road as a solo artist.
Michelle Cashman gives powerful insight into her heart and soul before sending audiences on their way knowing that when it comes to climbing the mountains life throws at us if she can do it, anyone can.
