acoustics. harmonies. percussion. friends. The Middle East write beautiful indie folk and are from Townsville!
Tell us about your music - how did you develop your sound?
- well our music is based from indie and folk music. We first started off as a rock band which then turned to indie rock and then after a while turned to indie folk. however theses days its a little bit more on the folk side more so than indie.
Tell us about Townsville.
- Townsville is a great small city which is growing and developing more. The music scene here is made up of mixed genres', therefore when ever one of the bands puts a gig on there is normally a range of differnt bands playing at the same gig. which is great because anyone can come along no matter which type of music they like.
Who are you influenced by?
-WE are influenced by Bob Dylan, starflyer 59, sigur ros and sufan stevens.
What's coming up in the future?
We have alot coming up, recordings of a new EP, a show with "smog" on thursday 8th of january and then we also go on tour with "leader cheetah" mid febuary.
Australian music is?
Australian music is JJJ

Was trying to decide where to leave my 1,000 review on triple j Unearthed but there's no better place than right here, on one of the best Australian songs of all time. I'll always miss you, TME.

This is a special song... very much of the moment too with it's layered country/indie vibe and those choral harmonies. Beautiful stuff guys, looking forward to hearing more.
