Bio

MIDWEST are a young band with broad horizons. Arguably one of Brisbane’s best kept secrets in post-hardcore, their recently released debut EP quickly caught the attention of influential label Resist Records - home of Parkway Drive - landing them a lucrative support with internationally acclaimed heavyweights La Dispute (US) and Pianos Become the Teeth (US) on their recent tour of Australia. Musically speaking, MIDWEST is anchored either end of a bi-polar spectrum – plenty of rough edges but with some respite, so sincerity is not lost in all the noise. Triple J presenter Dave Ruby Howe was quick to praise the band’s single Built to Break for these dynamic shifts in mood, with the track earning rotation on Triple J Unearthed and a top 10 spot in the Unearthed punk charts. The band has found favour too with Triple J’s Stu Harvey, who recently showcased another of their tracks, We Once Were Children, to a national audience on his program Short. Fast. Loud. With recent features in AMH Network and Property Of Zack, and live shows turning heads, Midwest is not a band to sleep on.

This gets really big around the 50 second mark and it keeps you gripped pretty tightly from then on.
