Bio

Milky Thred are a 3 piece teenage surf rock band from Newcastle, Australia.

Formed in late 2016 as a high school project, they soon exploded as one of the most exciting ones to watch in Newcastle’s vibrant all ages scene.

Milky Thred consists of Riley (16), Bronte (17) and Adrian (18).

Following in the footsteps of the new wave of Australian surf rock bands like Hockey Dad and Skegss, the young novos blend a mix of jangly guitars, fast tempos and driving pop melodies to create a memorable summer vibe across their sound.

2018 was a big year for these young teens, two of which are still in high school, having copped triple j airplay on their previous singles, and shared stages with bands like The Vanns, Heaps Good Friends and their biggest show to date supporting Hockey Dad at The Enmore Theatre.

This was a dream come true for the band, who grew up on the sophisticated beach rock sounds of Hockey Dad’s first releases, and blended that with a mix of Jungle Giants-esque indie pop, also rooting their influences in 70’s punk, by covering bands like The Buzzcocks.

In 2019 the crew are honing in their live shows and working on their debut EP, with first single 'Get Out Of My Head' dropping early May just before their tour with Surf Trash.

Catch them on the road across May/June.
