Bio
Mission: Banana are a four-piece indie alternative rock band from Newcastle, NSW. Their music is as unforgivingly intense as it is beautifully soft and sincere.
Forming in September of 2018, the band has come far since its inception, quickly making a name for themselves in the local scene and acquiring a loyal fanbase. On the release of debut EP Regal Way, they amassed over 80,000 Spotify streams, as well as thousands more on platforms such as Apple Music and Deezer.
Some notable achievements include; opening for bands such as The Smith Street Band and Milky Thred, joining The Loose Leeches on their Only One Single Tour, winning the 2019 Central Coast Council battle of the bands, throwing their own EP launch show, as well as a slew of highly successful headline shows at venues such as The Cambridge Hotel and The Dungeon, proving themselves as a threat to quiet evenings. Additionally, in the wake of the 2020 bushfire crisis, they organised a Bushfire Relief Fundraiser which raised over $1500 for the Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal in a single evening. In light of new restrictions related to Covid-19, the band are performing live stream shows through Instagram and releasing music to keep audiences engaged through a difficult time for the music industry.
Mission: Banana tap into a large array of different genres in their song writing, however, they’re commonly pinned as psychedelic rockers by their fans. Experimenting with new genres and style song-to-song is part of what makes the Mission: Banana live experience so interesting. They draw heavy influence from artists such as Psychedelic Porn
Crumpets, Mac Demarco and Rage Against The Machine.
The Mission boys have cemented themselves as huge fore-comers and a huge part of the Newcastle Music scene. With a large and dedicated fan base spanning the east coast of NSW, they’re only looking to grow further. With some audiences describing them as “the best live show in Newy” and “one of the most fun and exciting bands in recent years”, it’s clear this Mission will be accomplished.

Those riffs cut through in the final third like a (*quickly googling synonyms for a knife through hot butter*)... like a blade through hot margarine!

a nice step up here for the banana boys with plenty of size and scalding heat in those guitars.

if you injected I Sat By The Ocean with some potassium, you'd have this song. this is such a good time from start to finish.
