Bio

Sydney-based electronic duo MKM Groove Amati, aka MKMGA, have a way of twisting and turning their musical style. Their love affair with music started at a very early age, with Michael Hannon classically trained on piano from the age of 6 and Claudio Amati taking to the DJ decks at 13.
With broad musical tastes and major influences spanning from Ladytron to Lady Gaga, Mariah to M83 and Saint EtIenne to SZA, crossing genres is their thing and is clearly evident in MKMGA’s sound. Their first release, “Hollow”, a dive into their personal relationship, is an electronic shoegazer echoing artists such as Depeche Mode & Empire Of The Sun. Their second, “Magazine Fort”, took a sharp turn onto the dance floor. Their third and fourth releases “Look Up” and “Temptation” again showed the duo’s range, delving into R&B, Funk & Soul.
Other influences include Tame Impala, K-Flay, LCD Soundsystem, Metronomy, Santigold, New Order, Belle & Sebastian, Alt-J, The Cure, Soul II Soul, Arcade Fire, The Human League, Disclosure, CSS, Bat For Lashes, Lana Del Rey, Broods, Crazy P, Grimes, Ciara, Fleetwood Mac, IAMX, Kelis, Metallica, Kendrick Lamar, Lily Allen, Moloko, ABBA, Massive Attack, The Presets.
April, 2020 sees the release of the 4 new tracks LIVE FOR (THE NEW BEAT), PUSH, FREE SPEECH and a reworking of the Abba classic SO LONG.
