About
Moody Beach is the artistic project of Sydney songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Melissah Mirage. Since 2017, Mirage has released two bodies of work and collaborated on various musical projects in Australia. Debut track “Vanilla” earned spot rotation on triple j and a slot on Henry Rollins’ KCRW show “Fanatic” along with "Chance" on Travis Holcombe's KCRW nightly show. “Plastic Love,” from her forthcoming 3rd EP "Assembly of The Wild" enlists Kim Moyes of The Presets to lay down his signature drums, while Mirage’s enchanting vocals and melodies take centre stage, plunging deep into her experiences of connecting with a love that she knows to only be a short term fix. The track opens with a reverb washed drum loop, joined by a punchy snare that cuts through the track, creating the space for the song. Moyes’ percussion is soon accompanied by a heavily saturated, shoe-gazed wall of guitars, sitting carefully on top of an unvarying bassline. This is where Mirage serenades the track, ...
