Bio

The Motion Below are a Post-Hardcore quartet blasting out of Melbourne, Australia. Having originally formed in August 2016, the band quickly etched their mark through the Melbourne music scene with their debut EP, ‘Reform/Converge’ - recorded, mixed and mastered by Chris Themelco at Monolith Studios. The release of the debut saw them successfully gain support slots for the likes of Belle Haven, Stepson, Eat Your Heart Out & Naberus, as well as winning the opening slot for Buried In Verona’s final show on their farewell tour at Max Watts in November of 2017 - alongside Capture The Crown & Foxblood - all within the first few months of their inception.

Reform/Converge was toured through right through Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia throughout 2017 alongside Warrnambools The Ascended on the ‘Endless Winter’ tour and Geelong’s Amberyse on the ‘Born Too Familiar’ tour and gained heavy appraisal from critiques and musicians alike as The Motion Below secured themselves a place in a crowd’s mind with their impressive and energetic live performances, receiving positive reviews from publications such as Heavy Mag - “The night kicked off a band that nearly stole the honour of Best Band on the night – The Motion Below” - Heavy Mag. “..these guys are one of the most promising bands in the Melbourne scene at the moment” - Heavy Mag.

In March of 2018, The Motion Below released their first music video in support of their single, ‘Wormtongue’, produced and recorded by Ryan Matheson and mixed and mastered by Chris Themelco with videography by Andrew Bromley, the single was premiered on Hysteria Mag and supported by a cohesive East Coast tour alongside Amberyse.

Fast forward to November 2018, after a few member losses and unsure of where to go next, The Motion Below partnered with Evan Lee and Ash Daws from The Loud Noise Estate (Alpha Wolf, Aburden, Dealer, BLKLST), stepping into the studio with the aim of creating something unique and unlike what anybody else is currently doing, the band brings the brand new extended play, ‘Cronus Complex’. A significant step in the right direction for the band, with a more defined take on the modern day Post-Hardcore style and pushing their own musical abilities, ‘Cronus Complex’ encompasses all that the band has hoped to accomplish as a group.

With the debut single and film clip, ‘State of Decay’, produced and edited by Colin Jeffs (Ten of Swords Media Collective) premiering on July 5th - The Motion Below bring you but a taste of what to expect of their brand new EP, ‘Cronus Complex’ - out worldwide Friday, August 30th.

The light and shade at play here is great - you've got pop-punk checkered-socks sensibilities with a detuned, heavy mosh predilection for post-work out protein shakes. You know what I mean.
